After a visitor visa refusal, pause before submitting the original package again. IRCC says the decision to reapply depends on the refusal reasons and whether the situation has changed. In general, an applicant may reapply at any time unless the decision letter says otherwise, but should have information not provided previously.
Review the refusal alongside the original application
Keep the decision letter and a complete copy of the previous submission. Compare the purpose, duration, funding and ties supporting the return home. The refusal letter identifies concerns; guessing alone cannot establish what caused the refusal. A useful working table lists each concern, the previous explanation and any new evidence that can be verified.
Make new evidence answer the concern
If the itinerary has changed, explain why and update the dates. If employment or financial circumstances have changed, describe the difference. Evidence should explain the real situation rather than simply add pages. IRCC requires applicants to satisfy the officer that they will leave after the visit and have sufficient funds. The amount depends on the length of stay and accommodation, so this article does not offer a universal savings threshold.
Check consistency before submitting
Compare the people, dates, payer and accommodation across the forms, invitation, itinerary and explanation. Answer questions about previous applications accurately and completely. Follow the current personalized checklist and any additional requirements for the place of application. Explain genuine inconsistencies; do not invent employment or family responsibilities to fit the refusal wording.
Understand the limits of reapplying
IRCC says applying again with the same information is unlikely to change the decision, and hiring a representative does not itself guarantee approval. Inadmissibility, concerns about the process or possible remedy deadlines require advice based on the actual decision. This is general preparation guidance, not an individual assessment. Points to keep in mind
- Identify the refusal reasons before organizing new information.
- Relevant, truthful and consistent evidence matters more than volume.
- Changed circumstances and a new application do not guarantee approval.
